Today I came across a video that not only made me stop and think, but also moved me to think about something other than food.
For those of you under a rock, California recently passed a law called Proposition 8. This took away the right for gay people to be recognized as “married” in the state of California. Thank goodness it had nothing to do with the marriages already performed. Nonetheless, it is a barbaric, stupid law that had no business being discussed in the first place.
Protesters Rallied on the Day of Decision
Before I show you this video, I also have a question: What the hell is a state’s business dictating who can be married or not? As far as I am concerned, there should never be a vote on the right to marriage. That is not the business of law, polititians, or even the people to decide.
It should be a right, unequivical to all human beings, regardless of their frickin religion. To put this question to a vote reminds me of what happened before: you remember… Now, these laws may not be the same as back then, but they have the same disturbing seed as those evil ones back then.
I will let Keith Olbermann say the rest, as he says it a lot better than I would. You know, without every second word as a curse word! Man, the States really angers me sometimes.
