Here I am with yet another podcast. I promise that it is more child friendly than the last one. The intensity is sill there though.
I am looking into using Adobe Premiere Elements to bring you a video podcast. What do you all think about that?

7 ingredients to make your family rave

For those of you that like to have it, here is the recipe:

Sweet Potato and Corn Chowder

Serves 4

Ingredients:

1 onion, peeled and chopped

1 knob butter (25 grams)

1 sweet potato, peeled and cut into chunks

water to cover by 1 inch

100 grams (1 cup) frozen corn kernels (the best you can buy)

Salt

Freshly cracked black pepper

Method:

Sweat onion with butter over medium heat.

Add sweet potato; cook for a few minutes.

Add salt and pepper to draw out the moisture for sweating.

Add water; cover and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

Add corn, cover and simmer until the potatoes are cooked and tender. (A knife will easily glide through the potatoes. If not, continue cooking.)

Blitz the mixture with the aid of a hand blender. (Or use a blender if you don’t own a hand blender or like messy cleanups.)

Strain the mixture through a fine chinois. (Skip this step if you want… I just like smooth and silky.)

Ladle up the soup and serve to your adoring family.

There is no picture of the soup… in my belly, see!

Do you have any ideas for soup that follows the seasons? Do you like the podcast? I would love to hear about it in the comments!

I have been blogging now for a little over a year, and there are times where I have revised what I have been doing on this blog. I have also had wonderful advice from Nick at Macheesmo. With that advice, I have made better strides.

After Gary's video, I have been thinking hard about WDC. I love the blog, and what it is about. The hard thing is, there have been so many different directions I have gone, it is hard to see where I was going.

I was thinking about it this morning, when it finally hit me. I had a revelation so hard, I had to dig out my hands-free for my Blackberry and make a mini podcast right then. It is rough, and the sound quality is not the best, but there it is, in all of it's glory. The contents are something I can be excited about.

I must say that the guy is intense. He made me think.

I will warn you, the podcast is not safe for work or little children. I make no appologies for the cursing in the podcast, as it is there to accent my intensity about the point.

Give it a listen, and if you have any comments, I would love to see them in the comment section below.

Garden

Doing great. Tomatoes coming in. Strawberries are going well, and peppers are growing larger.
Looks like slug trouble. -Got to mulch.

Update with Collaboration. Exciting news, I will be collaborating with Tom Naughton on “curing Franken Foods”. Stay tuned.

New development: Reader question of the week.

Going through forums, emails, and will attempt to answer question with my not so humble opinion. Here goes:

Cooking capellini d’angelo. Question:
We bought a lot of Capellini because it was on sale. It’s difficult to prevent it from turning it into a bit of a starchy mess, especially when I’m reheating it. Is there some other way, beyond keeping a constant watch on it and stirring, stirring, stirring, to keep it perfect? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Plums falling off trees: Question:
Getting together with a couple of friends this weekend to can the plums that are falling from the trees.

What’s your favorite canned whole plum or plum preserve recipe?

Weird ways of Cutting Yourself: Question:
We all know that kitchens can be dangerous places. There are knives that cut, and graters that bite, and hot stove tops and pots waiting in lurk to burn us.

Last night, however, I hurt myself in a totally new way. I’d sprinkled some coarse salt on a dish I was preparing. Grabbed the pepper mill and started turning it. Ouch!

Seems that one or two salt crystals had adhered to my finger. When I turned the mill the salt actually scraped my finger tip—one of those cuts that doesn’t go deep enough to bleed, but which hangs around two days longer than forever.

Anyway, I got to be wondering what other kinds of weird wounds you’ve suffered in the kitchen????

What is the silliest way you have cut yourself in the kitchen?
