I am already into my 3rd week of P90X! It is hard to believe that I have not lost the energy to continue. While I am doing this regime, I have not even had a day off from work yet, and won’t for a few days away. I have stuck it through though, and the workout is a highlight of my night.
I am impressed with the gains that I have made, and the definition in my muscles so far. I can actually see definition in my muscle groups starting to show without flexing. Something is working.
Chest and Back features push-ups. I still can’t do the pushups without going on my knees, but now I go the full range of motion with the push up bars. I think that as I go on, I will be able to get on the toes. Right now I just don’t have good form that way.
The number of repetitions have gone up since I started exercising. I am using bigger weights, and the improvement shows.
By the time I got to Ab Ripper X, I was shaking. There were several times I almost packed it in tonight, but I fought through the workout. I can’t get all 25 reps, but I did what I could, and took those breaks. My problem is my lower back. It has improved, but the burn is still there. I Googled it, and found that other people had the same problem, but it went away as they progressed through the training.
Mike told us the other day he did not like the combo of chocolate and berries. I hear you Mike. You can substitute any flavor with chocolate and it will work out awesome. Here is what I did today for my post workout drink:
Banana Strawberry Mint Protein Shake
Serves: 1
Ingredients
- 1 scoop Strawberry isolate whey protein powder (about 30 grams)
- 1/2 banana, peeled
- 4 strawberries, hulled
- 5 tablespoons Mediterranean yogurt (at least 10%, preferably one you make yourself!)
- 1 cup water
- 5 ice cubes
- 1 stem fresh mint leaves, chopped fine
Method:
- Place water, yogurt, ice cubes, strawberries, and mint in your cup. Add the protein powder. (It will float on the top. Don’t try and put it first, or you will have a clumpy mess at the bottom!)
- Using a hand blender, or a bar blender, blend the mixture until it is smooth enough to drink.

Thanks for the recipe! This sounds like a good idea for the weekend after mowing, fighting bees, and painting the deck.
Now, about a chocolate bacon shake . . . . it’s possible, right?
@Mike – Oh yes, anything is possible. LOL. I think I might even try that out… in the interest of science, of course…
