Have you ever wondered how Grandma made a chicken so delicious? What was her secret?
The answer is simplicity.
See, she did not mess with a good thing. Indeed, once she got it down, chances are she did not change her method again. If anyone has ever tried to learn off of Grandma, they will have undoubtedly found it frustrating when Grandma steps in with an admonition because “you weren’t doing it right.”
My wife’s Babbi is no exception! I remember when I changed up the method for the chicken schnitzel at a party, Babbi was rightly concerned. See, I was making it totally different than she has made it for the last 45 years. I guess that can be pretty scary.
Today’s picture is no exception. There is a method that I have come up with that produces that awesome chicken. (Lemon rosemary chicken. I won’t post the recipe here.) I use it everywhere on the room service menu. When a hot shot comes around talking change on how we should do the chicken, I get protective.
Funny, isn’t it? Seems Grandmas pass down more than just the techniques of a dish!
Hot shot may say we truss it up differently, because of such and such fad. I say it works, why fix it? You would have to powerslam convince me to change it up, because right now it works so perfect.
Do you have a dish that you have done the same way for years? What do you get like when someone starts talking change?
