Have you ever had to hurry up and wait?
This is a picture of a catering event that we did. We had rushed like crazy to get to the finish (or start) line of the beginning of the event.
It turns out that the hype was a little too much for the event, as no one showed. Okay, maybe about half of the people showed. The service was excruciatingly slow.
The point is that sometimes we rush into things, worried about the final outcome. We plan, we “get it done.” Then we wait.
I saw a person today weaving in and out of traffic, only to get to a red light. I was laughing as I pulled up behind him. Look where your rushing got you today buddy!
The same goes with our food. We rush to get it out, then we wait for our family to mosey on to the table. We rush to eat, then we “wait” in front of the television.
Sometimes we need to enjoy the process as well. Why stand around waiting twiddling your thumbs when you can enjoy the road there? Why rush to the grocery store when you will just have to wait in line?
Sorry to go all philosophic on you there, but I was thinking today that the rushing is the root of our society today. Our health problems, our political problems. We want everything NOW, no – 5 minutes ago.
That is why our rates of disease are going through the roof. Diabetes, Thyroid, obesity, heart attacks, strokes, kidney problems. Our life is full of stress – and usually it is self-induced.
Take a second today and enjoy the sunshine (if you have it.) Slow down a bit. It could be healthy (not hazardous) to your health!

Hey Jason ,
This makes so much sense … I have seen some times happening the same thing with me too …..
Speaking of waiting … I think thus the age of micro wave cooking has bought so much of diseases around .. do not you think ?
@Sudeep – I agree with the sentiment of what you are saying. The hardest thing in the world is to slow down, and do it. The price we pay is for convenience.
@Scott – LOL. (I edited out your number, don’t want too many crazies phoning you!)
We should def get together for some beer. I would love to taste some of the stuff you got brewing too!
I think we can all relate to the stop light guy. I (unfortunately have been both guys in that scenario! GREG
