Imagine this was your back yard, inspiring, no?

Slow down. Think.

Those words have been spoken to me time and time again as I grew up. I can even say that sometimes I listen to them.

The problem these days is that everything is just so darned fast. It seems that if you stop and think about what to do, you get run over in the process.

The irony is that when we continue on, we tend to make mistakes in our rush to GTD. (Get things done.)

I took a few weeks off to reflect on life, happiness, and of course, Diabetes.

I am the type that wants to get inside the problem, find what is wrong, and fix it.

Again, the mantra: Slow down. Think.

What are my actions doing to my family? This disease says that I need to spend a bit more time with the family. I need to stop working my butt off and get into family. I need to cook more, eat out less. I need to work out, lose some weight, and manage my disease.

I need to keep my wife happy, and love her like she deserves to be loved. I need to be there for my son, and not be the type of chef that comes home after 19 hours of work, expecting the family to be happy that I am working.

I need to remember that patience is what I need to work on with my son. Everything that he does teaches me. Juggle those responsibilities, and all will be golden.

I also need to get back into my hobbies. Role-playing games, my Savage Worlds site. Friends, contacts on the internet. Writing.

Oh, I need to write more. I need to BIC HOK. (Butt in Chair, Hands on Keyboard.)

I need to help people as I help myself. I need to manage my disease through how I eat, and exercise. I need to teach people how to cook for Diabetes. I need to pass off that information.

I also need to finish the renos on my house, and the back yard. Yes, that gazebo will have to be moved as the crappy deck will be torn out. Am I going to finally try out that system of heating for the pool this year?

When will the renos be done? I can’t wait to see them. It sucks that the counters won’t be changed in the kitchen, but the rest of it looks nice. I can’t wait to see the stairs when they are finally put in.

What should I cook this week? I really need to get a plan on the go. Gardening. Should I do containers this year? I sucked at the Square Foot Gardening last year. Tomatoes are definitely going into buckets this year. I wonder how the SFG would translate into containers? Mel’s mix would a good thing to use.

Okay, walk is done Hershey, I am getting hungry. Time to go inside.
