Hello all, it has been a while since I have posted. Seems that the Well Done Chef has been busy as ever. The funny part about it is right now is supposed to be the quiet time in Montreal. Well, no appologies!

I recently got my grubby mitts on an interesting book called “Sqaure Foot Gardening” by Mel Bartholamew. With a name like that, you would think that I would not go any further. I am a chef, right? What in Creation’s name do I care about gardening?

Simply put, it is every chef’s dream to cook with the produce that they have grown by themselves. How about the ultimate control on every aspect of your product. What goes into the soil, how it is watered, how pests are kept away. Organic? No problem.

That brings me to last year’s disaster. Nope. I remember that I planted tomato plants. I remember putting something down there. I also remember not going out to the patch either, and there is a lot of elaborate stakes with twine out there holding up the sad remnants of what I hoped would be a great harvest.

Thing is, gardening is hard fricken work! Flash foward to today, and I have bought this most excellent book. I am devouring it, and I am planning what I want to plant for the spring. Hopefully I will get some better results this time.

So it is official: The Well Done Chef Square Foot Garden in now in session. More on this later.
